This week children in Year 2 and Year 5 were visited by Val, a safety officer from the London Fire Brigade. The children enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the importance of fire safety and have been able to share their learning with friends and family.
Year 2 developed their History skills through participating in a drama workshop. The children experienced the London of 1666 and ‘became’ the fire as it spread and burned its way through the city. They also met Samuel Pepys and discussed ways of rebuilding the city of London after the fire. Year 2 loved the opportunity to extend their knowledge and understanding of a major event of the past in a creative and inspiring way.

We are expecting parent visitors to share their experiences too! We are really looking forward … Continue Reading
This week we have a special visitor at Barnfield to celebrate Poetry Week: the poet Kayo Chingonyi. In assembly yesterday, Kayo performed a few of his popular poems. Children also shared some of their special memories and Kayo used these ideas to create a poem on the spot. We all really enjoyed joining him in ‘beat boxing’ too!!
Today the children in Years 1 & 2 enjoyed a drama workshop where they learned the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table through drama. The workshop was very interactive and had the children performing a range of actions and movements. They had a great time.
