What a joy it was to see Sameep Marhajan from 2W presented with the runner-up prize in the 5-7 year old category at City Hall for the 4th Plinth competition. His award was presented to him by the British artist Heather Phillipson who also judged the pieces. She revealed there were 4,000 entries across London. We are extremely proud and excited to announce that Sameep Maharjan in 2W has won a prize in the 4th Plinth competition. A number of our children at Barnfield put an entry in and they were all incredibly impressive, I don’t know how they picked a winner? 3,500 children across London entered the competition. On Wednesday 28th March Year 4 produced a wonderful Easter assembly! Congratulations to all the actors and singers on their amazing performances. We are all very proud of you.
Recently, Year One enjoyed a trip to the Museum of London. As part of their Humanities topic, the children have been learning about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. At the museum the children took part in an interactive story-telling workshop where they learned more about the life of Mary Seacole and the contribution she made to medicine and nursing. After our lunch the classes enjoyed a walk along the Barbican High Walk. Year One had a fabulous day!
On Friday 23rd March Year 5 went on an exciting trip to the Science Museum. As we have been learning about Earth and Space this term, we firstly visited the Exploring Space exhibit. It was a thrill to see spacecraft that have travelled past planets, moons and stars and see our learning come to life. Year 3 children have been learning about the life of Guru Nanak and why he is important to Sikhs. As part of this topic, year 3 visited a Gurdwara in our local area, to learn about some Sikh beliefs and customs.
3J taught us lots about the Romans in their class assembly last Friday 23rd March. Their singing and acting was brilliant! Well done 3J!
