Year 1 went to Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir to learn more about Hinduism. They enjoyed exploring the mandir and seeing a prayer service take place. Year 1 had a wonderful time developing their understanding of the Hindu faith!
On Friday 9th March, 5J performed their class assembly all about the first moon landing to the Juniors and the adults. They all acted wonderfully in their roles with such enthusiasm and sang aloud beautifully! Well done 5J, we are very proud of you!
Today some children from Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a workshop at the Apple Store in Covent Garden. The children had a great time exploring a range of Apple devices. They then took part in a workshop where they created code to program robots. They had a fabulous time and now where their “Apple Expert” badges proudly!
Book week was a great success. Two authors: Ross Welford and Holly Webb visited our school and the children read some of their books throughout the week. Children across the school dressed up in their favourite book character. The costumes looked super! Signed copies of the authors books were given out as prizes.
Barnfield’s dance group performed at the Arts Depot on Wednesday 7th March. They did so well and really shone on stage! We are all so proud of them!
Year 2 have been learning about Judaism and other Places of Worship. As part of these RE topics, we went on a trip to a synagogue last half term. This week we visited a church in our local community, St Alphage. This was a very useful trip as it allowed us to compare and contrast the different places of worship.
On Tuesday, 20th February, 2S performed their class assembly ‘The Bees Knees’! It was all about the importance of bees and pollination! 2S, you were super! You worked so hard remembering all your lines and all the words and actions to your songs! Well Done!
We were so excited to have our favourite Librarian Jayne Jenkins come to visit us in the Nursery. Our children and their families had a wonderful time joining in with songs and stories. Jayne reminded us how important enjoying books together is, looking at the illustrations, talking about what is seen and happening is vital in helping our children develop. Pop up literacy/art club has been very successful in creating art work to be displayed in the school reception room to celebrate Barnfield’s love of reading. Every class from year 1 to 6 had a class member to represent them and it has been a real pleasure to work together to make art based on books.
