This week is our story writing week when the children get the opportunity to plan and write a long story over a few days. Please remember that school finishes for Christmas at 2:30 on Friday 20th December and that the new term begins on Tuesday 7th January at 8:55. On behalf of the school may I wish all our families a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
This is an exciting week with our Infant children performing their Nativity plays to parents and with Father Christmas being with us all week. Next week it is the turn of the Juniors who will be performing to parents on Thursday 19th December at 2:00. Following our recent Outstanding Ofsted inspection report we have had a number of different schools, one as far away as Suffolk, telephoning us to see if their teachers could visit Barnfield to see what we are doing. Some of the comments of the teachers include, ‘lovely to see such well behaved children,’ and ‘the children are brilliant, they are so polite and motivated.’ This Friday our local Member of Parliament Matthew Offord is visiting. On Monday we will be starting to get into the Christmas spirit when a pantomime visits the school. This has become a yearly event, this year the children will be watching a performance of Aladdin. It was certainly a busy week last week with the after school galleries and Music Day with its Lion King theme. It was also interesting to see all the different clothes that the children wore to school on Children In Need Day! They raised an amazing £448 pounds! Don’t forget that Friday is non uniform day which we are holding to support this year’s school charity Whizz Kidz. If children bring £1 to school they don’t have to wear school uniform. Our School Council have decided that on Children in Need day we will support our school charity, Whizz Kidz which supports children with disabilities by holding a non uniform day. Children can wear their own clothes to school if they bring £1 to school to support the charity. Remember the day is Friday 15th November.
Our Creative Week was great fun! If you want to see some of the results then come along to the Infant Hall on Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th November at the end of the school day. Miss Biggs, our Art coordinator who organised the week will be displaying some of the children’s work.
