Don’t forget that Friday is non uniform day which we are holding to support this year’s school charity Whizz Kidz. If children bring £1 to school they don’t have to wear school uniform. Our School Council have decided that on Children in Need day we will support our school charity, Whizz Kidz which supports children with disabilities by holding a non uniform day. Children can wear their own clothes to school if they bring £1 to school to support the charity. Remember the day is Friday 15th November.
Our Creative Week was great fun! If you want to see some of the results then come along to the Infant Hall on Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th November at the end of the school day. Miss Biggs, our Art coordinator who organised the week will be displaying some of the children’s work. We are all enjoying Creativity Week, the children have been looking at the pictures that they saw when they recently visited the National Gallery. If you want to know more then Miss Biggs is organising an after school exhibition of the children’s work after half term. More details to follow! I hope that the children enjoy their week’s holiday. I am looking forward to seeing them all when school begins again on Monday 4th November at 8.55.
Thank you to everybody who gave Harvest gifts all of which have been distributed to elderly people in our area. Over the next few weeks all of our classes will be visiting the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. These trips are part of our work on creativity which Miss Biggs our Art Coordinator is organising. Following these trips we will be holding a Creativity Week in the week before half term. Our jeans day last Friday was a huge success with over £450 being raised for the Whizz Kidz charity which works with children who have disabilities and their families. A big thank you to everybody who contributed, Miss Webster who runs our PHSE curriculum was delighted with the result. Following advice from Barnet council we are increasing security at our Silkstream Road entrance. The gates will be made electronic, operated from the school office but until then security guards will be on duty at the gates. If you have any questions please ask at the office. It has been great to see how well our new Reception children have settled into school. Miss Webster and Mr Locksley their class teachers and all the Reception staff are very pleased with them. Friday of next week, the 20th September is our first fund raising event of the school year. It is our wear jeans to school day. I am looking forward to welcoming back all the children on Wednesday. We will also be welcoming some new teachers. Miss Anders will be working in Year 3, Miss Dhesi in Year 4 and Miss Kennedy in Year 5. Miss Saberwal has taken on Mrs Kanter’s position of Assistant Head teacher. In the Children’s Centre Alison Booth will be the manager while Naomi Jaques is on maternity leave.
