Last Friday Year 5 took a trip into London to visit the Museum of London and learn more about the Vikings and Anglo Saxons. We were able to see an Ancient Roman wall on the way there too! All of the children were so well behaved and it was a great experience being out altogether as a year grouo. Thank you to the parents who joined us and made this trip possible.
Thank you for all of your kind donations of food for our Harvest assembly at the end of last term. The food was donated to people in need of it. Once again, the Barnfield family’s generosity was overwhelming.
In our last week of the first Autumn term we celebrated ‘Diversity Week’ where the children learnt about different cultures, customs and moments in history that marked change. The children participated in a range of activities which encouraged children to develop their understanding and respect, as well as enrich their own experiences. Barnfield Kids did a fantastic job raising £331 on Jeans day last week for our ‘Power Up Our Playground’ school charity! What a fantastic start to this year’s fundraising!
Poetry week at Barnfield was great! Children across the school took part in poetry fest, exploring a vast range of poetry and a poetry jam, performing poems in class. Many performers were even brave enough to share their poetry in assemblies. Well done to all the children who took part in the competition. You made it very difficult for us to find a winner!
On Thursday 10th October, Miss Williamson took the year 2 children to the Infant Music Festival. The theme this year was “Travelling around the World” and, together with other local schools, Barnfield performed songs from many different countries. We also performed our own song from Ghana. Thank you to the year 2 team for their support, and well done to all the children!
School is open for Years 1-6
On Friday 5th July 2019, we celebrated Barnfield’s 90th birthday! Children learnt all about the history of Barnfield Primary School and then celebrated with parties in the afternoons. Thank you to Miss Coussins for organising the day!
Many thanks to Anthony Glenn, who came to perform “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on Wednesday 10th July. Well done to all the children who took part in the show!
