1S performed their class assembly on Tuesday! The performance told the incredible story of Florence Nightingale. Year 1 have been learning about Florence since the start of the year and it was wonderful to see the story come to life! They’ve been working so hard to learn their lines, actions and songs we’re all so proud of them!
During Investigations Week our theme was ‘Drowning In Plastic.’ The children across all year groups worked really hard looking at the positives and negatives of plastic in our environment and looked into solutions and small changes we could make to help the environment. We had workshops from the Happy Puzzle Company, Drama4all, Green Up Your Act and a parent cookery workshop from Keep Britain Tidy! Everyone had so much fun and lots of learning was had!
Last week some of year 4 had brilliant week learning about the rainforest. We created our own topic books and researched a lot of the animals and plants that live in the rainforest. Our exciting week finished by a fun trip to London Zoo where we saw lots of the animals that live in the rainforest. Everyone enjoyed it and behaved perfectly. Well done year 4!
Nursery children had a wonderful visit from the lovely Jayne Jenkins of Barnet Library Services! We enjoyed singing songs and listening to stories together. Nursery families had the opportunity to learn more about the importance of reading and how to make the most of our libraries. At the end of the visit all of the children were given a new book to enjoy at home!
Year 4 had a wonderful time on their residential trip to Cardfields Centre in Essex. They enjoyed orienteering, a long walk in the countryside, fire-building, pond-dipping, screen-printing, the BMX track, environmental art, a talent show, baking, a camp fire and lots of team challenges! A huge thank you to all of the amazing Cardfields staff, as well as Mrs O’Sullivan, Miss Williamson, Miss Halil and Miss Raghwani!
Year 1 had a special visitor on Monday. Florence Nightingale came to teach us all about her life. She told us all about her childhood and how she knew she wanted to be a nurse. After we joined her in all of her important jobs- we washed the floors, made the beds and bandaged the wounded soldiers. It was such an exciting way to start our new topic in History.
Well done to the Junior children who performed in their Around the World Christmas Production today. The children sung, danced and acted beautifully. Thank you to the adults who came to watch. Have a lovely Christmas!
