Poetry week was a great success! Children around the school explored a range of poems and spent the week writing, editing and performing their own work. Lots of children entered the poetry competition with a nonsensical poem based around Roald Dahl.
Years 1 & 2 had a fantastic time singing and dancing away last at their music festival. Can you spot Mrs Grasby in full song too?
This week Year 5 had a visit from Thornhill the friendly Viking. Children were able to spend an hour with him, learning about the Viking ways of life and also handling artefacts from that time. What an experience!
5V transported us all back to the Viking era. There was some amazing singing and we also had fun learning so much about the Vikings!
On Wednesday 3rd October Year 5 went on a Science walk to test Friction. We tested cars on three different surfaces to investigate which surface caused the most friction. We discovered that friction is a force that slows objects down. Our investigation results showed that the grass surface was most affected by friction.
In Reception and Key Stage One, we remembered about the importance of taking care of our teeth. To help us to celebrate good dental hygiene we received a dental health kit, including a toothbrush, toothpaste and sticker. At Barnfield we know lots of ways to stay healthy and happy!
Last Friday Year 4 enjoyed a trip into Central London. Sights we saw included: the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. There was also time to do some sketching and time to play in the park at the end of our tiring trip!
Our Police officer, P.C. Diane came to speak to the children of Barnfield this week. The children learnt about keeping themselves safe! Here she is talking to the Reception children about the people who help them.
On Friday 21st September all classes took part in a resilience afternoon. Children discussed the importance of build-ing our resilience i.e. the ability to bounce back when things get hard or they get stuck in class. All the classes looked at people who have overcome difficulties and created a class display for their classes. We think they look amazing!
