As part of Investigations Week, Year 2 visited the BFI iMAX cinema to watch “Fly Me To The Moon 3D”, an animation about the 1969 Moon Landing. The children were awestruck at the wonderful 3D effects and had an amazing time! They continued to have an amazing day when they visited the Science Museum to explore the Space exhibition.
We have been learning about Florence Nightingale this term. On Wednesday 7th January we had a visitor who dressed up like Florence Nightingale. She shared many interesting facts about the life of Florence Nightingale and we all pretended to be nurses and soldiers in the hospital. It was a lot of fun!
Connect-ED dance workshop On Thursday 28th January, Year 2 children from Goldbeaters, Broadfields, Colindale Primary School, Woodcroft and Rosh Pinah came to Barnfield to join some of our Year 2 children in a Dance workshop. All of the children shared their fantastic dance skills and worked well together to create a variety of wonderful routines!
On Friday 22nd January 3C performed a short story about the importance of friendship. The children read their lines extremely confidently. Miss Coussins and Miss Toon were very proud of them!
Children from 4M had a wonderful time on their residential trip to Kench Hill! On Wednesday 20th January, Lauren Murray, a semi-finalist from the X factor competition came to visit Barnfield school. The children loved this experience, which linked really well to our PSHE ‘Be The Best You Can Be’ topic. She answered lots of interesting questions and also sang a couple of songs with the children in both infants and juniors.
Children and teachers have learnt to play a song on the Ukulele taught by Mr Hirons. This was a fantastic performance. We hope to introduce Ukulele lessons for the whole school in the coming months.
Selected children from years 4-6 were selected to go on a theatre trip to watch Matilda. We had seats on the second row and the children loved experiencing the wonderful acting and singing.
On Wednesday 16th December the children from Barnfield sung beautifully at St Alphages’ church. There were some festive readings and even a cheerful performance from the Barnfield staff. This was another example of the many talents of our children and how well supported they are by the community. Thank you to all who were able to attend.
