Today we celebrated Harvest at Barnfield! Each class prepared a creative piece to share with the school. Year 3 blew us away with their beautiful voices. Year 4 inspired us with their thought provoking poem followed by Year 5 who created pieces of art based on what they learnt about locally sourced food. Poetry week was a great success! Children around the school explored a range of poems and spent the week writing, editing and performing their own work. Lots of children entered the poetry competition with a nonsensical poem based around Roald Dahl.
The children in year 3 went on a trip to Golders Hill Park for their Science topic. They took part in a Bee count and learnt about many different types of flowers. These are some of the photos the children took. In their lesson, they are using a new plant app to identify the flowers.
3J enjoyed visiting Burnt Oak Library on Friday 6th July! We hope that lots of children will be taking part in the Barnet Summer Reading Challenge over the summer holidays!
On the 20th June, Year 3 went on a trip to St Albans Cathedral. They learnt about the story of St Alban and made their own mosaic art work. Their behaviour was fantastic and they had such a great day!
The children in year 3 went on a trip to the Wenzel’s Head Offices to learn about the production of bread. They had the opportunity to make and design their own loaves along with the decoration of cupcakes and gingerbread men. It was such an amazing day and the children were extremely well behaved.
Year 3 children have been learning about the life of Guru Nanak and why he is important to Sikhs. As part of this topic, year 3 visited a Gurdwara in our local area, to learn about some Sikh beliefs and customs.
3J taught us lots about the Romans in their class assembly last Friday 23rd March. Their singing and acting was brilliant! Well done 3J!
On Friday 9th February, 3C performed their class assembly about the Mayans. They said their lines clearly and sang confidently. We were all very proud of them!
