The school council met today to discuss how classes are getting on and to think of ways to raise awareness of the role of school councillors across the school. Barnfield children should remember that the councillors are not just elected to talk about playground equipment.
School councillors fed back on:
-Fundraising ideas- Cake Sales in Spring and Pyjama Day in Summer
-Pets in school: we discussed this might be distressing for the animals and some children.
-Playground equipment being repaired: we have noted that the middle playground equipment is set to be fixed.
-Painting goal posts: goal posts will be repainted in the summer to raise the height of the goals in the Football Playground.
-Yr5/6 Letter to Barnet: Our older children will work with Mrs O’Sullivan and Mr Locksley to draft a letter to the council asking for involvement in the park redevelopment and for access to the new facilities as part of our PE lessons.
-Mirrors and hooks in children’s bathrooms: this request will be made and hopefully this can happen.
-More cooking in class: our councillors will speak to Miss Coussins to find out if this can happen as part of Geography.
-Football Playground: we discussed changing the way the Football Playground works- a vote has taken place and results will be collected this week.
