It has been a great week so far. On Monday our year 1 children had a visit from the ‘Animal Man’ he brought some small creatures with him to show the children. They were looking at different types of animals and how we care for them. This was a really exciting session for them and he commented on how sensible the children were. We were very proud of them.
We have investigations week coming up in the week beginning 28th January. Our theme for this year is ‘Plastics’. During this week the children will be carrying out investigations and also looking at what plastics are doing to our environment. I know that the teachers have competitions planned which will enable the children to be creative. There will be an opportunity for parents to see some of the work that the children do during this week in a parents event – look out for the date of this!
We also have some parent events planned and letters about these are coming out. We have a parent only event on Tuesday 5th February from 5.45 – 7pm which is all about online safety. Keeping our children safe online is vitally important and we have a specialist coming to talk to parents to help you with this. Please do make a note of this date and try to attend if you are able to. In that same week we also have a phonics workshop for parents on Thursday 7th February. This is aimed at parents who have children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and shows you how we teach reading at Barnfield. Please try to attend if you are able to.
