Welcome back to everyone, it was so lovely to see the children back after the half term break.
The children have got straight into their work . Our Junior children have a real focus on developing their times tables during Early Morning Work. All year groups from Year 3 to Year 6 are spending the first 15 minutes of each day working on developing their rapid recall of this key skill. It is very important that all the children are in on time as this is an area that only develops through lots of repetition, if the children are late they will miss this precious time. If you have time – do test your children to see how they are getting along.
Do remember if you have a child in Year 1 and 2 and would like to know a little bit more about how we teach maths in those year groups that we have a parent session on Thursday 22nd February at 9.00am in the main school hall. This session will be taken by Miss Cordey our Assistant Headteacher and will also give you some ideas of how to help your children at home. If you would like to attend please drop your children off to their class and then walk around to the Silkstream Road entrance (main office). We look forward to seeing you.
Next week is Book Week. This is always a fabulous celebration of reading and a chance for the children to take part in some exciting book related activities. We have two authors visiting the school, Holly Webb and Ross Welford. They will be sharing their work with the children and also inspiring them to read and keep developing their writing. On Friday 2nd March the children are also invited to dress up as their favourite book character. I am certainly looking forward to that week.
