Wendy Kravetz

Chair of Governors

Term of office:

31st March 2023 – 30th March 2026

I am thrilled to be The Chair of Governors at Barnfield Primary School.  My is  background as a Director in Strategic Boards, Owner of WendyK HR, Non-Executive Director at Community Souls, a member of Saracens Community Sports Group and Director/Chair at North London Aquatics.

I have over ten years of governance experience, and over 20 years of HR experience, including being Chair at Frith Manor Primary and recently serving as a Local Authority Governor at Queenswell Primary. My strategic involvement with 21 schools reflects my passion for fostering positive change in the education sector.

I am an Aqua zumba enthusiast and enjoys spending my leisure time swimming, reading, live music, good coffee, trips to France and walking my beagles. As a local activist residing in Barnet, I am intricately connected to our community.

My aim is to add value to Barnfield in any way I can.

Ammar Naqvi

Vice Chair of Governors

10th June 2022 – 9th June 2027

I am a Local Government councillor for Burnt Oak and have been a Governor at Barnfield since 2014. Having read for a PhD in Philosophy, I became a lecturer in Medical Ethics in 2015, and recently became a Professor of Epidemiology with a subspecialty in infectious disease. Currently I am the local authority Cabinet member for Culture, Leisure, Arts and Sport.

Allan Turner

My mum was a cleaner at Barnfield Primary School, as was my wife! My sisters came here as pupils in the 60s and my children came to Barnfield in the 70s and 80s. Therefore I feel I have a strong connection to the school. I have been a governor since 1989.

Richard Logue

I am a project management consultant specialising in transport related projects. I was a school governor at Frith Manor School for four years. I helped set up the NW7 Hub charity that runs Mill Hill Library and was chair of Mill Hill Residents Association for five years. I joined Barnfield as a governor in October 2023.

Drew Thomson-Jones

Governor

16th November 2023 – 15th November 2026

I am delighted to be a Governor at Barnfield Primary School. I have taught in secondary schools, both state and independent, for sixteen years, so my background is very much rooted in education. I trained as a physics teacher and have held posts as Head of Physics and Head of Science. For the past five years, I have been Deputy Head Academic at St Albans High School for Girls.

I have lived in Colindale, and currently North Finchley, for over a decade having moved from Watford and more distantly Scotland, where I was born and went to the University of Edinburgh. I have a great affinity for the wider Barnet area and I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to Barnfield and its community.

I moved to Edgware almost a decade ago from Harrow. I have a bachelor’s degree in architectural technology and my master’s degree is in Construction Commercial Management. My background is in project and programme management within built asset project and major programmes. Having previously worked on the delivery of several new build primary schools and special schools across London and the south. I am looking forward to making a positive contribution to Barnfield and the school community.

My background is in Financial Services having done a Bachelors Degree in Development Economics. I am a firm believer in the importance of our education system providing strong foundations to prepare our youth in an ever competitive world. I admire the dedication and drive with which Barnfield seeks to deliver this for its pupils and I hope to use my experience and expertise within my capacity as Governor to help Barnfield fulfil its ambition to ‘be the best it can be’.

Linda Jones-Dawson

Staff Governor

I have been working at Barnfield for over 30 years. My 3 children came here as pupils and I have had many roles including: dinner lady, PTA, governor, librarian, nursery nurse and teaching assistant. I have worked in every year group in the school. Barnfield School is a huge part of my life and I have such a connection to the school and the community.

As an analyst for the NHS, I bring a meticulous and analytical approach to problem-solving and decision-making. Outside of work, I enjoy reading with a particular interest in personal development and finance. Books such as “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself,” “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” and “Rich Dad Poor Dad” have shaped my perspective and fuelled my passion for continuous growth. I believe in the power of education and innovation to drive positive change, both within our educational institutions and the broader community. It would be an honour to contribute my skills and insights as a school governor, nurturing an environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.

I am a science teacher from Pakistan who moved to the UK. I have four children and my connection with Barnfield Primary School started in 2015.

I have a strong connection with the school and, as a parent governor, I am ready to support the school in building a strong relationship with parents so that our children can flourish in the best educational environment.

I enjoy gardening, sewing and baking.

Barnfield Primary School
