Welcome to Barnfield Primary School

Welcome to Barnfield Primary School – A message from Mrs Goodwin

Barnfield is a very special school, it is a place where we strive to ensure all our pupils and staff are the best they can be.

We are incredibly passionate about our pupils reaching their potential, our staff are highly committed to teaching and providing ambitious learning opportunities to ensure this happens.

Our children are encouraged to ‘be the best they can be’ from an early age. Through our work with Compass for Life, we encourage our children to identify their ‘super north star’ and consider the milestones and steps they need to accomplish in order to achieve their goals, linking this very closely to their current learning. We want our pupils to appreciate their learning has a real purpose.

Through our curriculum, we also aim to promote:

  • Ambitious me
  • Creative me
  • Curious me
  • Emphatic me
  • Healthy me

These are five key qualities we have identified as a community which we believe will help our young people grow into well rounded individuals, ready for their next steps.
A key part of achieving this centralises around our message that learning is meant to be tricky and mistakes are part of learning. We place great importance on developing resilience and a growth mindset to help reinforce this message.

We are incredibly proud of the diverse backgrounds our children, families and staff come from. We celebrate and promote our diversity, recognising each child as an individual. We use values as our common language.
In order to make all this happen, we place great emphasis on the importance of relationships. We are champions for our young people. We want our young people to feel happy, safe, encouraged and inspired. We truly want our pupils to be the best they can.

I am very proud to be the Headteacher of our wonderful school. It would be lovely to have the opportunity to show you why Barnfield is so special, either as a prospective pupil, parent or member of the team. Please contact the school office to make an appointment.

Paper copies of any information found on this website can be obtained at our office.

I look forward to meeting you.
