We use Language Angels curriculum to support our children’s knowledge and understanding in this area of learning.

At Barnfield, we understand the importance of instilling a love of languages. Languages open many doors in life and helps to develop an understanding of different cultures. We celebrate the fact that so many of our pupils, families and staff speak more than one language.

At Barnfield, all pupils from year 3 are taught French. We use a scheme called Language Angels to support teaching which is full of topics which are both interesting and relatable for the children. Each lesson is full of rich vocabulary and many opportunities for children to develop the four key skills of learning a language: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The lessons are always creative, challenging and enjoyable.

Learning another language can have huge benefits to children’s memory, their problem solving skills and their understanding of the world, as well as being fun.
