In week 4 we had our seventh Creativity Week and our Barnfield artists yet again outshined our expectations, blowing us away with their imaginations, making us see art from a whole new perspective. Our theme this year was ‘Moving Art with Music’. The work of artists such as William Turner, Henri Rousseau, Vincent van Gogh and Georgia O’Keefe were explored. The children pulled their focus painting apart, looking at it from perspectives across the curriculum. We are celebrating some of … Continue Reading
This week some of Year 5 and 6 were chosen to represent our school at Copthall Athletics. The children did really well competing in events like high jump, shot put and races. It was a brilliant day out. Well done everyone that came!
Book week was extremely successful this year with the storyteller Liz Fost visiting the infants. All of the infants based their week around The Rainbow Fish. The juniors all read books by Linda Newbery, who also came in to talk to the children about her books. Book character day was lots of fun! We had a range of characters all around the school. There was a winner in each class. Thank you to everyone involved.
Book character Day was a huge success this year. Thank you to all who took part. You were so creative and looked amazing!
This week 1L performed their class assembly which was a retelling of the traditional tale, ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. The children were super stars, singing the songs enthusiastically and performing their lines with confidence and clarity. Our Reception classes, who had recently learned about the story, also joined us in the audience. They were as impressed as everyone else! Well done 1L!
It has been a really lovely start to the half term. The children have all come back refreshed and ready to learn. Just before half term the Year 5 children came up with their own challenges to raise money for our school charity, which is Oxfam. They raised over £300 between them. This is an amazing amount and we are very proud of them for coming up with the ideas, carrying them out and then raising money. Next week is … Continue Reading

Our Year 6 children also went on a visit last week. Added to this, we had two police officers come into school to take assemblies on road … Continue Reading

It was great to see parents join us for our ‘Safer Internet’ meeting last night. The slides that were shown during this presentation are now available online for those who wish to view them. They can be found under the online safety section of the website. Thank you to all of those … Continue Reading
